WFH? Boost Your Motivation with these Brain Foods!
The food we nourish our bodies with has a huge impact on both our physical and mental health. With many of us working from home it can sometimes be hard to find the motivation to get things done with so many distractions and home comforts around us. But just adding some brain foods to your diet could help combat this!
Turmeric
Not only does Turmeric have anti-inflammatory effects it is also great at increasing brain levels of BDNF (Brain-derived neurotrophic factor) Simply add some turmeric and pepper to your hot water and lemon in the morning or add to porridge, curries or soups!
Chia Seeds
Chia seeds have been a huge hype in recent years, but there’s good reason for this. Chia Seeds are rich in antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids which will help boost your body and energy levels, they are slow releasing helping you feel fuller for longer and release energy over a longer period of time. There’s many ways you can add chia seeds to your diet- make a chia pudding, add to smoothies or yoghurt or use it as an alternative to eggs in baking!
Berries
Most people are probably aware the benefits that berries can have on your brain. Blueberries especially have been shown to enhance memory as well as learning and general cognitive function. Why not add a handful of blueberries to your morning granola, add to your smoothies or simply snack on their own!
Raw Cacao
No seriously! There have been many studies made on raw cacao and how it effects our bodies. Raw cacao improves brain function, blood flow to the brain and can improve mental performance. Raw Cacao is also wonderful at improving your mood, so why not settle down with a hot cacao! Or add some cacao shavings to your overnight oats for a little taste of indulgence in the morning.
