Yoga Nidra
What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep, is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping. Induced by a guided meditation, the body is completely relaxed and ready to open the doorway to a place where we see both ourselves and our lives in the best possible light.
Laying completely still and following a set of verbal instructions, you will close down all other senses using only your hearing. You will be guided on a journey, and experience travelling through several stages to awaken a seventh sense, and tap into an underlying sense of peace.
Why try Yoga Nidra?
Reaching the deepest possible state of relaxation whilst remaining conscious, opens deep phases of the mind. This relieves stress, reduces tension and anxiety, induces emotional healing and offers a sense of mental & physical wellbeing.
To simply let go of all muscles and surrender, new practitioners often find they go to sleep during the first few sessions. With experience and time you will experience a deep rest, with a trace of awareness, allowing you to embrace all that this practice offers.
How to Prepare for Yoga Nidra
Wearing comfortable clothing, find a soft surface to lie down, you may wish to cover yourself with a warm blanket as the body cools with lack a movement. Use a pillow or cushion as support for your head, and darken the room or better still use a eye mask to remove any distracting movement or light. Closing off all distractions from the outside you may wish to also use earphones. You are now ready to surrender and enjoy the practice of Yoga Nidra.
