For a natural energy drink or a filling breakfast, try whizzing up one of these nutritious smoothies using seasonal fruit and veg!
Go Green Smoothie
This sweet smoothie packs in plenty of nutritious ingredients, such as spinach, flaxseeds and banana, with an optional spoonful of maca powder for a natural energy boost.
Ingredients:
250ml of Milk of your choice (we like to use unsweetened almond or coconut)
1 tbsp of ground flaxseed
1 tsp maca powder
Pinch of ground cinnamon
1 medjool date
1 small ripe banana
Handful of spinach
1 tbsp almond butter
Pour the milk into a high-speed blender then add the ground flaxseed, maca powder and the cinnamon. Add the remaining ingredients then blitz until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.
Sunshine Smoothie
Start your day off with a little ray of sunshine - a low-fat smoothie that's one of your five-a-day and tasty too!
Ingredients:
500ml of Carrot juice
200g pineapple (fresh or canned is fine)
2 bananas
Small piece of ginger to taste
20g cashew nuts
Juice of 1 lime
Put the ingredients in a blender and whizz until smooth. Drink straight away or pour into a bottle to drink on the go. Will keep in the fridge for a day.
Mango Lassi
Blitz up mangoes with yogurt, cardamom, lime and honey and you have the most delicious Indian drink – a bit like a smoothie and great for breakfast.
Ingredients:
3-4 Mangoes
500g Natural Yoghurt
2tsp ground cardamom
1 tbsp honey
2 lime juice to taste
Put all the ingredients apart from the lime juice in a blender and blitz. Add the lime juice along with a pinch of salt, to taste, then pour into glasses with some ice cubes and serve.
